John Hollett was born in Spencer's Cove. He would be remembered by folks from that area as being a cooper though he worked at a variety of jobs and was no stranger to ships and the sea. Mr. Hollett enjoyed singing and was ready with a song when called upon on. He lived to the grand old age of 100 and even into his 90s he could take your hand and belt out a verse of his favourite ballad. He passed away in 1988.
